So...I'm lazy. And busy. And obviously really bad at this whole thing. SO! Here is me, live and speaking, attempting to make up for some of it! I've uploaded a video to youtube, no tags so just people I know should be able to get to it. Sorry it's rambly, I wish I was better about doing the writing thing...I am just trying this out to see how it goes.
Contents: Thanksgiving! I actually have more thoughts, but this is the basic action and plots. Other thoughts include that it's the only truly American holiday...weird. And really, whoever you are with on Thanksgiving becomes your family. It has that much power. Something I never imagined could be true.
Also: Turkey is not easy to find in France. We didn't make it on the Sunday dinner, but I still ended up utterly stuffed on potatoes, pasta, beans, rice, salad, and other sundry goodness. Not counting desert and a really sweet white wine.
Feel free to comment here, on the movie on youtube, or not at all.

Woman, chill with the apologies! I, and I'm pretty sure everyone else, understands that you are insanely busy and "behind on the world, oh God". :D Currently, who isn't? Don't bother going to my blog even if you did have the time. I've written zip in about two and a half months.
ReplyDeleteCivil War game is tomorrow. It's utterly insane. Not only are we playing for rivalries sake we're playing for the Rosebowl! The atmosphere is so charged around here. None of my group of peeps managed to get tickets. Shannon's reaction to not getting one was a desire to "punch a kitten". You get what I mean about atmosphere? Utterly charged.
I'm so glad you managed your own Thanksgiving. Chocolate pecan pie... I dunno? I'll take your word on it's deliciousness. And no worries about getting to eat it again, you said she lived in Oregon right?
It's cool that so many people studying with you are from Oregon. Technically, you could get together after you all fly back here. Oregon really isn't that big of a state.
I have, what I'm hoping is, a severely simplistic essay to write. I'm gonna try to get it mostly done tonight because I'll be screaming my vocal cords into silence at the television tomorrow night.
I'll try facebook video again sometime.
Love you!
Alright - I listened!! And I read!! And I totally enjoyed! :D
ReplyDeleteI don't think I ever posted anything about our Thanksgiving... but I moved on and have been pretty good since traveling! (If you have the time/interest... ;) ) I have also heard chocolate pecan pie was good from the girl we couch surfed with in Salamanca (who was AWESOME), so you should get the recipe from them and we will compare... Awesome story with facial expressions!! Very exciting for me to get to see you (kinda). We had our Thanksgiving in a MEXICAN restaurant, but it turned out pretty good. Our Christmas was a similar experience in regards to the "your company becomes your family" idea, in San Sebastian, Spain.
Lucky you with meeting French people, and with all the Oregonians too!
Oh, and to complete Kat's comment - you won the Civil War, but there was much uproar about it, but then apparently you embarrassed yourselves against Ohio State... this would not normally be important to me, however, I had a full SPORT conversation with a family in Florence, Italy about it, who was from Cali. :) Some of my guy friends had been keeping me updated from home. ;)
